Peter Doherty - Festival Republic Stage
Bringing proceedings for this year to a close tonight
Performing songs from his solo career, Doherty also included songs by his bands The Libertines and Babyshambles in his 60 minute set. Watched by an enthusiastic crowd who sung along to every word, he barely spoke to fans, opting to let the music do the talking.
With the likes of 'Time For Heroes', 'Killamangiro' and 'Fuck Forever' receiving huge cheers, tracks from his solo album Grace/Wastelands were equally well received. Although he played entirely by himself, Doherty was joined by two ballet dancers for the single 'Last Of The English Roses', much to the delight of fans.
He also found time to pay tribute to his late friend Amy Winehouse, covering 'Tears Dry On Their Own'. After a brief moment off stage, he returned to do a song version of Siegfried Sassoon's poem 'Suicide In The Trenches' and fan favourite 'Albion', before smashing his guitar, throwing the remains into the crowd and walking off stage for good.
